Birte Wiemann has been working at Cargo Records in Wuppertal since 2005, where she has worked as a label manager for labels such as Trustkill, Revelation and Equal Vision, helped to establish Record Store Day in Germany in 2010 and implemented a B2B backend as a project manager. She is currently responsible for D2C/fulfillment and the associated systems and interfaces. In addition to her work at Cargo Records, Birte Wiemann completed her doctorate in English literature at the University of Hull in the UK in 2013. She has been a member of the VUT Board since 2016 and Chairwoman of the Board since 2021. She has also been a member of the supervisory board of Initiative Musik since 2022. Among the many topics that concern the VUT, Birte is particularly interested in making progress in the streaming debate, dealing with AI in our industry and the MEWEM mentoring program for female, trans and non-binary young talent in the music industry. If given the choice, Birte would always choose the haptic format.
