Sustainability culture Cologne:

Local clubs lead the way with Code of Conduct

Panel

Cinenova - Stage 2

The city of Cologne has the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2035. Culture is a system-relevant part of city life and can also make an important contribution to achieving this goal. On the one hand, by reducing real emissions, and on the other hand, as a lever, multiplier and change agent for sustainable development. This is to be promoted in the city through the implementation and low-threshold provision of the Code of Conduct (CoC). The sustainability concept covers the eight core topics of energy, resources, waste, social issues, mobility, nature conservation, communication and compensation.

By signing the CoC under the project title "Celebrating the Future" on April 28, the clubs want to send a signal that they support the city's intended goals, will implement concrete measures and show that they are sustainable and indispensable as sustainable spaces. The goal is to have 15 signatories* by May 2023. The project combines practical approaches and measures, with gaining knowledge about the needs and challenges of club operators and cultural venues. These should also be communicated at city, state and federal level through the overall project. Initiators of the project and developers of the CoC are BUND Berlin and Clubliebe e.V. from Berlin, which also accompany the project. The sponsor of the project in Cologne is Klubkomm. In addition to the drawing and further background information, the first results and first implemented measures will be presented.
