The Forum Music Industry consists of the seven central associations of the business sector. In detail, these are the BDKV (Federal Association of the Concert and Event Industry), the BVMI (Federal Association of the Music Industry), the DMV (German Music Publishers Association), IMUC (Interest Group Music Managers & Consultants), LIVEKOMM (Association of Music Venues in Germany), SOMM (Society Of Music Merchants) and the VUT (Association of Independent Music Entrepreneurs). It thus encompasses the essential sectors of the music industry, which are closely interlinked due to their complex value-added structures. The forum sees itself as a discourse space in which central issues of the music industry are identified and discussed in order to address them to politicians and the public. The cooperation is based on the understanding that there is also an exchange with other market participants and thus, depending on the situation, to reflect the views of all industry players in their entirety. The Forum does not see itself as an umbrella organisation for the sector. Rather, common issues are jointly presented to the outside world, with each association primarily representing the interests of its members and speaking on their behalf. The Forum Music Industry is committed to the cultural and social value of music in society as well as to shaping the industry according to the principles of economic and ecological sustainability.
