orbit is the dream pop project of 26-year-old producer and songwriter Marcel Heym. With a soundscape characterised by a mixture of raw acoustic sounds and atmospheric synths, orbit combines images of life in the countryside with a longing for a higher purpose. At the age of seventeen, Marcel Heym gained international stage experience with his first rock band, which he founded together with his brother Patrick. As teenagers they played shows in Shanghai, Los Angeles, London as well as at the big festivals in Germany. After becoming a music producer in his early twenties and moving to Berlin, Marcel realised he couldn't find happiness in the noise of the urban jungle. He fled back to his hometown and started his own first music project.
Instead of being a shiny new product of the music industry, orbit developed more and more into a multidimensional place for creativity and formed a real community inside and outside the internet. Without the help of major labels, Marcel and his friends created a collective that realised various projects, including artworks, videos and handmade merchandise. In spring 2021, along the last release "Summer Someday", orbit called on his fans to co-organise concerts in their hometowns. A few months later, Marcel and his friends played over 20 shows at private festivals, wild woods and backyards across the country. The tour soon became an expedition into the depths of German independent culture and a movement of genuine human connection.
orbit's concert is part of the project "Wunderkinder - German Music Talent 2023", in cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival and supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
