Juli Gilde
Concert
Blue and red. Up and down. Euphoria and panic! Caught between two opposites that are actually almost the same feeling - only in different directions.
Juli Gilde's second EP tells of lows and ups, car trips, secret hiding places of thoughts and a bronze shimmer in the sky, after the long Berlin winter. You could almost say it's a little concept album, summing up the stories and feelings of a young person in 18 minutes of running time: From fleeing early on the autobahn after hastily gathering one's things, a perpetual journey, about spinning in circles, self-doubt, missing the closest people, to finally a morning that brings all the threads back together.
Distorted drums, an 80ies synth arpeggio, overlapping voices. Alienated guitars, reverb spaces. Somewhere between Phoebe Bridgers, Stranger Things and Nena. The feeling of having lost an important person is something almost everyone knows. This pulling in the chest, as if you are being torn apart from the inside. And at the same time, you don't want to give up hope that you might see each other again. Shortly after graduating from high school, when suddenly everyone goes their own way and suddenly everything is completely different, Juli writes NACH HAUSE, a pop ballad that revels in memories and wishes for nothing more than to sit on the balcony again as a couple and watch the sparrows stealing crumbs.
The concert is part of the funding project "c/o pop 2023 musichubgermany" and is supported by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
