Black Sea Dahu
Concert
Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld
Janine Cathrein and her dedicated band of passionate musicians, together known as Black Sea Dahu, return with a second long player. "I Am My Mother" is the name of the follow-up to the acclaimed debut album "White Creatures".
If you've ever been so impressed by the sheer power of a thunderstorm in full force that you forget everything around you for a moment, and it echoes inside you as if you were the shattering lightning bolt in front of you yourself: that's how it feels when you listen to the seven songs on the new album. Orchestral, stormy and unpredictable. The way the music straddles the colorful lines of a wide variety of genres is reminiscent of the softness of a touch and the freedom of Basquiat's brushstrokes.
"I Am My Mother" is a record about empathy, acceptance and the art of recognizing beauty in the never-ending dance between the ugly and the sublime. It's about finding your roots and your place in a world that is always changing. It's about agency and self-empowerment. It's about all kinds of relationships: Love, family, society... But basically it's a passionate and open love letter to music.
Black Sea Dahu's concert will take place as part of the c/o pop festival in Cologne on April 27.
The concert is part of the funding project "c/o pop 2023 musichubgermany" and is supported by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
