c/o pop at the medienforum.nrw (the media forum)
The medienforum.nrw is the annual get-together of all the decision makers who shape the local media landscape, and is held at the Rheinpark Halls in Cologne, from June 22 – 24. c/o pop will be represented here with its own stall (Stall No. 20).
Themed »The Media in Progress – Everything. Always. Everywhere«, this year the renowned convention will address issues dealing with the competition between the private and the public law regulated sectors; questioning the terms under which quality journalism would still be possible, and reviews the campaigns of the German Superwahljahr 2009 (bumper election year) post- Obama. The Film- and Television festival »Großes Fernsehen« (June 18-21), as well as the medienfest.nrw (20 & 21 June); which is a forum for young fledglings on their way to enter the professional media world, will all take place in the course of the medienforum.nrw.

Almost simultaneously (June 22 -23), »PLAN! POP 09« – the Federal Symposium for popular music promotion - will be taking place in Rostock/Warnemünde. Here representatives from the music relevant state ministries; representatives of all political parties who are in pop culture and business use; pop-sponsors of communities, countries and subordinate authorities; and providers of publicly funded concert halls and exhibition companies, will meet together for the first time. The conference is about strengthening the music industry, networking, and more fundamentally the establishment and development of popular music funding structure in Germany.
The panel »Up to date funding opportunities for musicians aspiring to become professionals « will be moderated by c/o pop co-founder Ralph Christoph. The Theme of the panel is pop promotion in Germany: How can this promotion work in ways that are both sustainable and viable for the future? How to successfully attract partners within the scene as well as the economy? Daniel Best (Management Jazzanova), Dieter Gorny (Initiative Musik GmbH), and Riekje Weber (Authority for Culture, Media and Sport, Hamburg) will all be part of this panel.
Panellists at »Music Trade Shows - Who needs what?« include Nobert Oberhaus, the CEO of the cologne on pop GmbH. Also present will be representatives of the Frankfurt Music Fair; the Berlin Popkomm; the Pop Up Leipzig; and Jazzahead from Bremen. There, issues will be discussed such as: How many music trade shows and business meetings does the industry need; What are the main priorities and competencies of the respective trade fairs; What are the different cost structures, and what possibilities of promotion for participation in fairs are possible? The panel introduces the various objectives and target groups of the music fairs.
