New Perspectives

In 2007, c/o pop launched a project with a difference. Manifold visions of contemporary pop culture from numerous different European perspectives were presented in one unique showcase: Europareise.

Sponsored by the Federal Cultural Foundation, thirteen festivals came to c/o pop in August 2007 and for five whole days presented an exclusive cross-section of their programmes in the most diverse locations in the city. At the same time, professional c/o pop provided an innovative platform for international protagonists and multipliers from the areas of music, design and art.

As a result of intensive collaboration with the Goethe Institute and the Federal Foreign Office, over 1000 multipliers from 16 European and 16 non-European countries were accredited participants in the conference c/o pop 2007.

While Europareise 2007 focussed on presenting the programmes of the various festivals in question, we now want to extend and consolidate the network built up over the past two years. Europareise c/o pop 2008 will focus on the people that work behind the scenes of the festival sector. We want to make it an international summit meeting for Europe's festival organizers - a unique meeting that puts the networking idea, the exchange of information and intensive cooperation in the spotlight - c/o pop as the festival of festivals.
More festivals than ever will be taking part in Europareise 2008. A whole range of new countries, from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia in particular, have already been added to the list. Parallel to this, conference c/o pop will be exploring a range of Europe-specific topics in the form of readings and panel discussions.

Europareise c/o pop 2008 is sponsored by the Federal Cultural Foundation.
