WAR OF THE EXPLOITERS - COPYRIGHT IN THE DIGITAL WORLD

Not many controversial issues are as hotly and heavily discussed among artists and consumers as the question of the value of creative works in the Digital Age.
Is virtual content only »information« that may only be reproduced solely for training purposes or are they protected by a stronger copyright?
Who owns the content? The question of copyright in the era of digital content remains unanswered to anyone’s satisfaction. Current developments, such as the establishment of the highly networked association called »Digital Society« on the one side, and the concentration of major media companies such as ARDZDF, under the banner of the »Content Alliance« show just how much opinions and demands diverge.

Cologne media law professor Nicolaus Peifer kicks off the discussion from a ground level legal point of view. Then we let a few practitioners have their say, some the victims of some the beneficiaries of digitization.
In short impulse-statements by Berthold Seliger (Managing Director, concert management agency Berthold Seliger) , Mareen Fischinger (Photographer &  Founder, Lumio GmbH), Micki Meuser (Composer, Member of the initiative, Creative Economy of the Federal Ministry of Economics), and Marcus Weiß (Consultant/ Blogger, neunetz.comneumusik.com) will illuminate the subject from the various perspectives of the creative artist.
This will be followed by the big showdown of key opinion leaders. For the first time at the C'n'B, representatives from the CONTENT ALLIANCE and the DIGITAL SOCIETY will step to the podium. Prof. Dieter Gorny (Director, ecce – European  Centre  for Creative Economy) will discuss the future of digital content with Andreas Gebhard (Founder & CEO, newthinking communications),  Dr. Robin Meyer-Lucht (Strategic Advisor / Author, Berlin Institute)  and John Hendrik Weitzmann (LegalProject Lead, Creative Commons Germany).
