Co Working - A Trend Goes Global!

Developments that grow out of the creative industries naturally have a major impact on the lifestyle and working style of other industries.
In the creative industries, one is always after new ideas, or that elusive »new recipe« for innovation. It’s not surprising that many companies the size of Google cringe when creative trends impact the work-reality of their corporate culture.

In 2011, one such trend is »coworking« - working together, in open structures. In coworking spaces, each person or team can work anyway they want to. It’s an alternative to the office cum street café, or the same four walls you see in your »free time«. These are the self-employed workers who want sharpen the cutting edge, entrepreneurs pursuing their own projects and choosing the partners that they want to work with. Especially for micro-businesses that do not or cannot invest in their own space and equipment, this kind of work structure is like manna from heaven and often this is exactly where ideas and projects happen »accidentally« and »in passing«.

The newly formed Betahaus Köln, the Coworking Cologne Initiative, the coworking space Gasmotorenfabrik and the Fablab Dingfabrik will all present at this year’s C’n'B.  In the temporary coworking space of this workshop attendees will get a taste of Coworking and the principles of Skill Sharing. More info about Skill Sharing here!
At the information desk of ECCE (European Center for Creative Economy) you’ll find another Space out of Dortmund called "Ständigen Vertretung”. On the second day of C'n'B (23.06.), it’s founder, Marc Röbbecke, answers questions on the newly opened idea-workshop. More on Coworking in an interview with Coworking Cologne initiator Peter Schreck.
